  • feel sad more than you feel happy?
  • do you feel that life is passing you by, or passed you by?
  • are you experiencing feelings of anxiety, depression and sadness?
  • have you experienced adverse experiences linked to parental divorce, domestic abuse/sexual abuse, been a victim of violence or witnessed violence?
  • do you believe that you don't deserve it when good things happen to you?
  • do you feel that you cannot share your thoughts and feelings with friends and family?

We work with you by creating a safe non-judgemental space, where you can be your true self, We support you to identify and recognise patterns of behaviour that may have been helpful to you at one time in your life, but now that pattern of behaviour no longer serves you. By using counselling and coaching techniques we can help you to recognise and uncover inner strengths, learn new patterns and identify additional resources that can help you manage additional challenges as you navigate the road map of your life.

However, we keep it real, in that change is an incremental process and that change and growth occurs over time and each session is a cog in the wheel of your progress.

TO BE UPDATED

I am the proud mother of four children, two birth children and two children I had the privilege to help raise after the death of their mother my sister. They have all bought me love and joy. I did not think that I could experience more love or joy, but the bigger joy was when I became a grandmother. I now have five grandchildren, and then it got even better when I become a double G (Great Grandmother).

Aside from my role as a mother, grandmother, and double G, I have worked in several different roles, for example social worker, play practitioner, coach (business, life and financial), lecturer and now an integrative counselling psychotherapist. The common thread between these roles is that I have had the privilege to support individuals, couples, and families in developing strategies that add to and improve the tapestry of their lives.

However, please don’t think that my journey to this space as been easy, I have had to request help and support as I navigated through life; I have even had to reinvent myself a few times! Sometimes with the help and support of family and friends but often with someone who could and would be objective. None of these changes were easy, and things did not always go to plan or run smoothly. There were moments when I cried and wondered about my decision making, but in the end with the right professional support things turned out alright.

Experience

I have experience of working with individuals, (children &. young people) and families for over thirty-five years, working as a therapeutic social worker and counsellor coach within the NHS, several local authorities and within the voluntary sector. I have worked with a cross section of individuals who have experienced depression, anxiety, imposter syndrome, domestic violence, sexual abuse, race and culturally based traumatic experiences. I have lived and worked in London, Jamaica and other parts of the Caribbean which has rooted me culturally but also increased my awareness of the complexity of interlinked cultural practice. At the same time understanding the reluctance of cultural barriers to therapy, from some communities. I am therefore respectful of cultural norms and perspectives and incorporate this into my practice.

Counselling & Psychotherapy For Individuals & those in Relationships

Counselling and Psychotherapy can be a talking therapy, but it can also use creative techniques such as art, music and sand (sand tray therapy). However, whichever medium is used it provides an opportunity and space for individual voices to be heard, it supports the gaining of new perspectives on lived experiences, while gaining clarity, as you work towards achieving desired outcomes and goals, for individuals as well as those in relationships (romantic & family) .

My aim is that we build an authentic relationship by me listening and responding with genuine compassion to the things that are important to you. Our sessions will take the direction and pace that you decide and are comfortable with. I use an integrative model using counselling techniques which allows you to look at patterns of behaviour, while identifying strengths that you have, while supporting you to look forward and to develop techniques that facilitate strategies that support personal development, growth, and permanent change.

Coaching - Individuals & Group

Coaching is an interaction to help and support you to progress, grow and develop. I am a mirror that reflects your ambitions and potential, as you try to achieve something new. I help and support you on your journey. I am a guide who takes you from where you are now to where you want to be. All that matters is that you get to go where you you want to be, by doing more than helping you to idea goals. I support you in having a realistic strategic plan so that you can move seamlessly to where you want to be in all areas of your life.

What kind of coaching do I offer

  • Life Coaching - I guide you to bring a clearer understanding of what you think your life purpose is and to effect the necessary changes in your current and future behaviour to ensure the realisation of your goals and aspirations.

  • Financial Coaching - I support you in finding out what drives your emotional relationship with money, I support you in creating conscious and mindful spending and saving habits. Think of a financial coach like a personal trainer, I help you to look objectively at your financial situation, I help you to plan and reach your goals. (I do not sell or recommend any financial products)

I have a keen interest in working with women fifty-five plus who may be facing financial challenges as they enter the next phrase of their lives and want to improve their financial knowledge

Neurodiversity

Neurodiversity describes the idea that people experience and interact with the world around them in many different ways; there is no one "right" way of thinking, learning, and behaving, and difference should not be viewed as a deficit.

Supervision - For those who work within the helping/caring professions

What is the meaning & purpose of supervision?

Supervision is a process of 'ongoing collaborative, experiential and transformational learning' that draws on practice and research-based knowledge. It is a 'flexible' relationship of 'mutual trust, respect and integrity' that takes into account the learning needs of the supervisee.

Supervision is a valuable way of "checking in" with a more experienced practitioner thus supporting and ensuring you stay grounded, maintain professional and ethical boundaries, develop your knowledge, both theoretically and practically, as well as focus on self-care to avoid "burnout".
